When MS Works Doesn't Work

MS Works Incompatibility Issues

Unless you specify the type of office productivity tools - word processor, spread sheet application, etc. – and pay additional fees, a free version will most likely come with your new PC. In most instances this will be MS Works Suite. Unfortunately, many of these tools by default save files in formats that are not compatible with other applications available on NSCC campus computers – including other Microsoft Office Products.

However, if you do have Works you can save Works Word file as a Rich Text Format (RTF) that is compatible with most word processors.

Open Office, an alternative to MS Works

This application is free as a download and performs better that Works. Rather than use Works we encourage the use of Open Office. A download of the application may be obtained from openoffice.org
